Turn It Down

As The Parrots proved at Monkeystock at Old Trafford last summer, a foreign Beatles covers band sounds better on paper than in practice. Even the Arctics’ favourite Japanese berks could teach these Merseybeat-cloggers a thing or two: singer Gabriel may hail from Buenos Aires, but he sounds more like a drunk Lennon at an Essex wedding karaoke. ‘Turn It Down’ fancies itself as a dropping-acid-with-The-Fab-Four mop-top shaker; it’s actually the sort of knuckle-gnawingly boring slop you’d expect from a band called something as drab as The Draytones.
