Los Campesinos!

Les Campesinos

Les Campesinos

The International Tweexcore Underground

According to Wikipedia, the definition of twee is “overly quaint, dainty, cute and nice”, well, that was until Los Campesinos! arrived on the scene. Now it should really read “overly giddy, heart-thumping, brain-rattling and, erm, nice”. This is Tweexcore. It still bears the usual pop melodies and dreamy female vocal of twee, but it has grown some hefty big testicles. It sounds like Belle & Sebastian with rabies and practically foams at the mouth. Here, we have the future of all things twee. It’s time to join the cardigan brigade.
