Geraldine

They may look like the lobotomy T-Birds, but not since Arcade Fire has a band been so immensely human. This song is about a woman called Geraldine, a social worker who apparently gave up her job to follow the band about, officially to flog their merch but, you suspect, also to offer professional support to James Allan and his ever-quaking heart. Imagine ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’ written by a pisshead with a dead dog and you’re close to the patchwork of tragedy from which this beautiful song is wrought. Drown yourself in this wave of reverb and earnestness, it’s your best option.

This song is the best of the year. The music is beautiful and my thirst for poetry in music has been quenched in a music scene dehydrated of lyricism.

i went to see the mystery jets in liverpool (shite gig btw, the crowd were dead) an they were meant to be supportin but didnt, how annoying, not to keen on the scottish accent but the tunes not bad an the lyrics are brilliant! potentially a great new band

I have seen this band play loads, they are def a bit of fresh air. What they sing about most folk can relate too, kinda like what peter kay is to comedy, glasvegas is to music.

they've got mass potential, but I just don't think they'll get as big as they deserve to because of his singing accent. Yeah, I know, that's his style etc. But I think that some people will be put off by it. Personally, I find the songs difficult to listen to because of it.

Terrible band, terrible songs. If you want poetry in music go listen to The Libertines.

Glasvegas are fucking brilliant - and part of that is because they don't sing in pretend american or (even worse) home counties accents like so many bands from these not-so-fair shores. Next we'll be hearing that Bob Marley would have been more successful if only he'd pretended to be a cockney...

Absolutley god awful band, why would anyone listen to these shit "scene" bands like Foals, The Ting Tings and Glasvegas in a year which saw Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends released one of the greatest albums of all time, Revenge to people slagging of Coldplay :)

Glasvegas are like the best new band out just now. I dont see how people are already critising their music, cause they are amazing! Gereldine is an amazing song, I mean one of the best songs out just now tbh.

it's a kewl song, but nme, you are goin a bit over the top about how wonderful they are. There are plenty of other bands around that are just as good

Great track, but check out the Acoustic version on iTunes, it's even better stripped down to just James, his voice and Acoustic Guitar. Can't wait for the album, hope my expectation's are met. Glasvegas are my new favourite Band.
