Amy Winehouse: Rehab

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse

Amy gets Motown on yo’ ass

Coming on like a crossbreed of (naturally) Amy Winehouse’s soul diva blathering and Aretha’s ‘Respect’/Martha’s ‘Dancing In The Street’/any Motown song ever, this isn’t really very original. What it is, though, is fun, fun, fun; a sassy rump-shake that takes a refreshingly DIY attitude towards drug rehabilitation – to paraphrase Amy, “I’m not going to bloody rehab, you bastard!” Yeah, take that Doherty, you pussy! Not hard enough to kick the crack by nailing yourself into your toilet for a fortnight like Amy, huh?! Just like Motown, this is trend-setting, edgy pop music – who said originality counted for anything anyway?
