YouTube introduces music downloads

Site announces tie-in with iTunes and Amazon

Video sharing website YouTube bosses have introduced a new feature that allows users to download music via the site.

Through the new program users are able to click on an icon to buy the music track that is playing in the video being viewed from iTunes and Amazon.com.

For now the icons will feature only on videos by bands signed to the EMI or Universal labels, but it is planned that extras such as a feature to buy gig tickets will be added at a later date.

"If you like the song, you don't need to leave Google or leave the site to buy it," Bakari Brock, business affairs counsel at YouTube told the New York Times.
