Les Paul to be honoured by Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Les Paul is set to be honoured by the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame at the 13th Annual American Music Masters series in Cleveland, OH this November.

An event entitled 'Rock and Roll Retrospective: the Les Paul Phenomenon' will be held at Case Western Reserve University during the week-long event, with a tribute concert taking place on November 15. Artists set to perform at the show will be announced in the coming months.

Les Paul is famous for his inventions and musicianship, having performed alongside Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, Mick Jagger and Tony Bennett.

Paul's most famous invention is a solid body electric guitar bearing his name. The instrument was first produced by Gibson in 1952 and has been a favourite of the likes of Duane Allman, Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Page.

Paul is also credited with inventing the first eight-track tape recorder, which was first produced by Ampex in 1956.

Now 93, Les Paul continues to play weekly at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City.
