Benny Medina is out and Jonetta Patton's back in

Usher has re-hired his mother as his manager, just over one year after parting ways.

As previously reported, Usher and his mum, Jonetta Patton, separated their business and personal life in May 2007, with the R&B singer hiring big-time manager Benny Medina to take care of business.

But reports say that he was unhappy with Medina’s performance as his manager, especially after disappointing sales of his ‘Here I Stand’ CD which sold 433, 000 copies in its first week of sales. His ‘Confessions’ album sold over one million copies upon its release in 2004.

Of severing his professional relationship with his mother, Usher told Vibe magazine “I decided to not fire, not get rid of, but to give [my mother] the ultimate compliment — to retire her to be a full-time grandmother. My mother and I decided to change her situation, together. There was a conversation. I didn't write her a letter or pink slip her."

A statement today confirmed Patton has been re-engaged as his manager.
