Travis announce US release date for new album

'Ode To J Smith' is due out in November

Travis have announced a US release date for their sixth studio album.

'Ode To J Smith' is due out Stateside on November 4 via the band's own imprint, Red Telephone Box.

The album is their first to be written on electric guitar since 'Good Feeling' and was recorded over two weeks at London's Rak Studios.

"Usually I write a bunch of songs over a year and then we record them and piece it together. But this album was born out of a rush of creative urgency, a need to make a record," frontman Fran Healy said in a statement.

"Perhaps that’s why 'Ode To J Smith' is the most cohesive thing we’ve ever done. When you move so quickly, there is very little time to reflect. You have to be decisive.”

The album was produced by Emery Dobyns (Antony & The Johnsons, Patti Smith, Battles). The first single, 'Something Anything’, is due to hit American radio on October 6.
