The Rolling Stones rule out performing with Blur and Adele at 2012 Olympics concert

Band's spokesman quashes rumours that the band are booked for the show at London's Hyde Park

A spokesperson for The Rolling Stones has quashed reports that the band will be headlining a one-off London concert to celebrate the end of the Olympics.

A report in today's (February 10) Evening Standard had suggested that the band were set to headline a 'Best Of British' concert on August 12 in London's Hyde Park with a supporting bill that included Adele and Blur.

Bernard Doherty, a spokesperson for the band, issued a statement to Music Week which reads as follows:

Contrary to a totally inaccurate report in the London Evening Standard today, The Rolling Stones wish to point out that they are not performing at any concerts tied to the 2012 Olympic Games in Hyde Park or The Olympic Park.

The report also suggests that there will be 14 days of free events in Hyde Park to coincide with the Olympics, with two paid-for 80,000-capacity concerts taking place on the night of the opening and closing ceremonies.

The Rolling Stones have yet to confirm if they will be playing any live shows at all during 2012.

Drummer Charlie Watts has previously talked up the chances of the band touring this year to celebrate their 50th anniversary, but both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have remained non-committal about the prospect.
