The Beatles' Paul McCartney is "furious" that McDonalds have hung photographs of the band up in their Liverpool restaurant in an attempt to "flog burgers".

The devout vegetarian has launched an attack on the fast food giant after leaning that his portrait appears alongside bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison in the restaurant, reports The Sun.

McCartney's spokesman Geoff Baker said: "What sort of morons do McDonalds think Beatles fans are? It's ridiculous and insulting to use images to peddle hamburgers. Fans should boycott McDonalds - and not just in Liverpool."

A PETA spokesperson added: "We hope anyone who sees his picture on the wall will be reminded that he's a vegetarian and skip the Big Mac for a veggie burger."

A McDonalds spokesperson told the newspaper that the pictures were intended to "acknowledge the outstanding contribution The Beatles made to both local and global culture".

HIs anger is both hypcritical and amusing - he flogged his latest album through Starbucks who are essentially the McDonalds of coffee shops. Live and let fry?

Whilst as a vegetarian i boycott McDonald's, i wish McCartney had shown the same consideration to the plight of the palestinians that he does to animals. He is still a big name, he should consider his actions and causes very carefully.

i just think liverpool should stop making the whole city into one big beatles museum. its fucking nauseating. i know they were the greatest band ever, but is that all Liverpool's good for? McCartney and Ringo hate the place anyways. how about pictures of Cast in McD's instead? lol

yeah when i was in liverpool walking past McDonalds the picture of the beatles was what made me want to go in...........f**k off.. They are rammed down your throat at every opportunity in that city anyway!! in Fact a picture of Macca on the wall would stop me going in.. so really he is protesting without trying.. what next he''ll try and sue thm for using the Mc in there name......the bastards

This isn't about anything else other than the fact that Paul is a vegan and animal rights advocate. Why the f*ck would he want his image associated in a place that's all about meat products? Think about it people, it's not rocket science. Paul McCartney Rules!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if starbucks sell meat but they're definitely not a vegan chain! Besides, Hard Rock Cafes sell plenty of burgers, etc, and there is loads of beatles tat in them. He just doesn't like the fact that McDonalds have a bad reputation and he isn't making any cash out of it.
