Singer may not feature at own aftershows

Prince fans have been warned of a 'no show' at his aftershow events.

The bashes at the Indigo venue following his London O2 Arena shows have sometimes not featured the singer.

They say he sometimes fails to go to the shows or plays only for a few minutes.

Prince’s website says that when there are arena gigs on consecutive days “the band usually opts to rest” it says, instead of appearing at the venue.

A spokesperson for Prince said it was “never guaranteed” he would appear.

She said: “What’s always been up on the official website was that Prince’s band would play most nights, and on any given night the Purple One could come.

“But every night was going to be different and special. For instance the other night his opening act Beverly Knight took to the stage for a long, late night jam session with Prince on guitar, which was a very special surprise for the crowd.”

Fans who booked tickets to the concerts in the main arena received promotional e-mails from ticket agency Ticketmaster highlighting the addition of the “aftershow” events to the tour schedule.

The agency’s website promoted the “aftershow” as “the white hot place to hang for those still in need of some serious grooves”.

They also stated: “Please be aware that Prince and the band are not guaranteed to perform but as we all know with these cats - expect the unexpected.”

However, fan websites have alleged that warning messages about his non- appearance were not prominently displayed when they booked tickets.

They said they had the impression that all “aftershow” gigs were further Prince concerts. Some people claimed that they had contacted Ticketmaster to request refunds.

Neither Ticketmaster nor the O2 Arena arena could be reached for comment, reports BBC News.

The star's latest show at the O2 Arena on Saturday (August 11) featured a hit-laden set, with Prince teasing the crowd with snippets of songs he has not played at the residency yet, such as 'Alphabet Street', 'When Doves Cry' and 'Pop Life'.
