'Dig Out Your Soul' succeeds where single failed

Oasis have topped the chart with their new album 'Dig Out Your Soul' today (October 12).

The band successfully knocked Kings Of Leon off the top spot after two weeks at number one with their album 'Only By The Night'.

Their album triumph comes one week after they failed to make number one with the lead single 'The Shock Of The Lightning', which entered at three.

This week, the single drops to 16, while Pink remains at number one for the third week with 'So What'.

Elsewhere on the singles chart, Kaiser Chiefs have a new entry at number five with 'Never Miss A Beat'.

The top ten UK singles this week are:

1. Pink – 'So What'
2. Kings Of Leon – 'Sex On Fire'
3. Sugababes – 'Girls'
4. Rihanna – 'Disturbia'
5. Kaiser Chiefs – 'Never Miss A Beat'
6. Ne-Yo – 'Miss Independent'
7. Katy Perry – 'I Kissed A Girl'
8. Pussycat Dolls – 'When I Grow Up'
9. Gym Class Heroes ft The Dream – 'Cookie Jar'
10. Iglu & Hartly – 'In This City'

Other relevant bands and artists based on the theory of PMA therefore are Sugababes, Leona Lewis, Westlife, The Eagles, The Script, The Feeling, Basshunter, Scooter, The Kooks, Usher, Jack Johnson, Adele, Scouting For Girls, The Hoosiers and The Flawed Arguments.

Dear "the_troglodyte", I'm not a massive fan of any of the bands that you mentioned there but I think Oasis fans have a real cheek to slag anyone else's music tastes.I mean, they just keep rereleasing the same single over and over again... how lazy is that!Plus they have crap haircuts. Although that seems to be a requirement for rock bands nowadays...But I agree with everyone else about Iglu & Hartley... who the fuck IS buying that?

Meh, Oasis are better than those artists on the charts, by far. It's just the usual pop shite that dominates...Pink can fuck off to be honest. Oasis sound absolutely mega live, and is possibly the last true rock band in Britain. With the new album, the band continue their run of having every album chart at number one! And I cannot wait until the boys come back home in their supergig. As a born and raised Mancunian I will be there in the front row. Good times!

jumbo999.. As far as i am concerned Oasis are now and always will be the biggest band in the world no body comes close.. how you came up with my relevent list puzzles me a little though?? have any of these people sold as many records as the biggest band in the world have they played knebworth and many other of the worlds biggest stages???.. NO?? SO GET A GRIP YOU F**KING KNOBHEAD

pma. in answer to your questions. theyve all had number one albums this year. thats the argument. and yes, some of them have sold more records that oasis. and yes, some of them have played big stages. knebworth flaws your argument even more. 1997 is hardly in the now is it? CUNT.

Interesting comments. But to me the album was a huge let down; on purchasing it I sat down and played the whole thing at full volume to get a feel for it. The only tracks that stand out are 'SHOCK....', 'BAG IT UP' - which samples 'It's Raining Men' incedentally - and ...... that's a bout it. The rest of it is as dull as dishwater and won't be finding it's way onto my ipod in any way, shape or form. Noel reall REALLY needs to put a stop to Liam and the other two contributing songs. When is this band ever going to evolve?

Oasis r crap end of

My name say's it all. Sorry guy's, they need to get over themselves. You should listen to Damien Rice.....Now thats a man with a good voice.=P

jumbo999.. Do you kiss your mother wioth that mouth.. Not one to look at the charts so i wouldn't know they were all number one this year. I dn't know about you but i don't see the any of the above bands you name playing any where other than arenas.. I am talking BIG like knebworth..........Which for your knowledge was 1996 you fuck wit.. If oasis wanted to play it again they could fill it night after night............so (in your own words) your a CUNT

jumbo999

96, 97. doesnt matter does it. still over a decade since. celine dion could probably sell it night after night. relevance is not about selling and marketing, its about what comes out of your speakers. which in this case is another 5/10 album.

possitive mental attitude

Oct 15, 2008

What is your f**king point? The arguement is the relevance of the band.. people on here everyday are saying Oasis don't matter anymore. and they obviously do. Filling venues isn't just about marketing its about your fan base and they will always have a huge fan base. you obviously took the time to listen to the "5/10" album.. oh and what the f**k has celine dion got to do with it?? i bet your a southerner......toilet.
