Band set for huge homecoming show

Oasis will play a homecoming "super-gig" in Manchester next summer.

Noel Gallagher told BBC News that his band had planned the show, but wouldn't reveal which location it would take place at.

"We've got a super-gig planned next summer," he revealed. "Don't ask me any more questions because I can't tell you what it is."

Oasis have played a variety of Manchester venues through the years, including a gig at the Gallaghers' beloved Manchester City's old Maine Road stadium in 1996, as well as the team's new home, The City Of Manchester Stadium, in 2005.

However, Gallagher hinted that the band were set to play the show at an unusual location.

"If I gave you 500 guesses you'd never guess where it would be," he said.

Oasis kicked off their UK tour in Liverpool on Tuesday night (October 6). Check out our Photo Gallery from the show.

So this will be June-August time? D'you think they'll still be going on about Noel's attack?

Oct 9, 2008

Old Trafford? Why are they even bothering touring the UK anyway if Noel thinks it is a shithole? He can afford to move abroad and take his shite attitude and music with him.

Old Trafford (football not cricket) - surely not though.Underneath Picadilly where they do the Warehouse Project would be mint but it's not big enough.Heaton Park - nobody plays there but it's massive and Radio One did some kind of One Big Weekend thing there a while back I think.Looking forward to more news, hopefully it really will be somewhere totally different.

I doubt there are 500 places around manchester that would be suitable for a gig the size of an oasis homecoming show. it could be somewhere like Tatton Park..

Hmmm, my guess would be Manchester LCCC. Radiohead played there, & a cricket ground is pretty unusual...

ok, i think the oasis Super Gig will be held in lymn Park, like knebworth and Lochlomod there are sprawling acres of land with a massive stately home, think they filmed lady chatterly there. The reason its there is simple, its 5 miles from where they grew up, and they will have frequented at some point, as its manchesters magic mushroom picking epicenter. It could fit 300,000 fans at a push i reckon. I bets its there. BTW Liverpool last night was mega. thanks lads

Oasis would never play Old Trafford, they're City fans. It'll be a park somewhere, Knebworth style.

Oasis Oasis Oasis... big deal NME. They are not the only band on the planet or haven't you figured that out yet. They're good but not worthy of being your top story every single solitary day.

dekeyboy

Oct 9, 2008

it wont be LCCC, hardly 'unusal' they played there in 02.

Lonely_soul

Oct 9, 2008

Id go with Lymm Park, they did LCCC in 2002 and bands play there every year so its hardly unusual! Runway 2 at the Airport would be a good shout though.

Soundedd

Another Oasis headline, Another 40 or so comments, the most relevant band in the world, simple as that. As for Dig Out Your Soul, I think 8/10 is fair, it's no Morning Glory but it's still bloody brilliant and for me it's probably a toss up between Guy Garvey and Noel Gallagher for album of the year, and thats MY opinion, not fact MY opinion. As for Kings Of Leon, havn't heard there new record so can't comment, but The Shock Of The Lightning is much better than Sex On Fire (which is still good tbf) :D. As a United fan, I'd love to see em at Old Trafford. Seeing them in Birmingham on Monday night, roll on Oasis!

Tony Panda

Oct 9, 2008

Does anyone still really, and I mean really, care these days about Oasis. Move on. They're no longer relevant.

Danger75

Oct 9, 2008

They've already played Old Trafford Cricket Ground back in '02 (I was there), so it won't be there. I very much doubt that it'd be at the football ground, so my guess is a massive park gig, like Radiohead did this year. It's the only way to hope to satisfy demand!!! New album is top by the way. Can't wait to see them on Tues!

neelthakerar

Oct 9, 2008

that trafford center shopping place thingy and tony panda, it actually does seem like people care, because the tour 'soul'd' (see what i did there, dig out your SOUL) out in like 0.002 seconds, over 80 000 people got the album and a whole load of people are guessing where their supergig is gonna be, so, yes they do, and you are just a douchebag!

neelthakerar

Oct 9, 2008

nahh wait ... corronation street!

gerwin

Oct 9, 2008

Hmm if you don't care about Oasis then why comment on here ?

SEATON CAREW!!!

possitive mental attitude

Oct 9, 2008

HAHAHA this no longer relevent thing makes me laugh.. Ihope the super gig is on white widows grave.. i for one would dance on that..i hope its something to eclipse Knebworth. then the "non relevent" crowd can shut up after it sells out in a milli second.

mozafan, i am not one of those snobby kind, I am a kid willing to hold my hand up and saying dissing Elbow was one of the biggest mistakes in music I've ever made, I've got a lot to learn haha, but what I do know is that Oasis are GODS :D As for Elbow, I couldn't believe my ears as to what I was hearing when I listened to their album. "One Day Like This" is one of the best songs I've ever heard mate! :D

Oct 10, 2008

Everything Soundedd says really sickens me lol, hes a United fan, Shock of the Lightning is better than Sex on Fire. From his comment I'm guessing he is from Birmingham which fits like a glove. The most boring guy in the world in the most boring city in the world! Go listen to some Keane you freak!

Oct 13, 2008

HELLO PEOPLE!!! Oasis are Man City fans! They would never in a million years play Old Trafford! Unless the toliets where emptied in the middle of the pitch. It won't be Man City's ground or LCCC, as they've already played there. Come on! Get Original and Creative!!!!

03priestt

Oct 15, 2008

club academy? machester arndale zavvi? i wish... how hard would it be to get a ticket to that?! touters would bath in £50 notes...anyway no idea where it could be on a serious note.any ideas who might support? i'd quite like an all manchester support list (the courteeners... i'd actually be happy with just courteeners.)
