Three Gallagher tracks for new record appear on internet

Three songs reportedly for Oasis' next album have leaked online.

Links to downloads of the tracks, ' I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine)', 'Nothin' On Me' and 'Stop the Clocks' started appearing on messageboards and fansites throughout the day (May 6).

Since then some fans have copied the clips and made them available via sites like Youtube. It appears steps are being taken to remove the demos with several previously working links now dead.

Of the leaked tracks, NME.COM has had a listen to the three songs - believed to be older versions of songs destined for the new album - and here is our initial impression.

'Nothin' On Me'
A relentless crunchy riff from Noel Gallagher and a sneery nasal vocal from Liam characterise this rollocking new Oasis song. It's a meaty return for the band, more Led Zeppelin-inspired than their more subtle recent work, such as 'The Importance Of Being Idle'. "They got nothing on me," Liam repeats, "I don't care what they say – all I want is the truth". A forceful return from the Gallaghers, although lacking the smash'n'grab choruses of some of their other anthems.

'I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine)'
Opening with a soft tambourine shake cut through by Noel Gallagher's sombre acoustic guitar, Noel sings John Lennon-style vocals on this quieter number. Tambourine and bells rattling in the background throughout give a Doors-esque edge to the affair, with drummer Zak Starkey's glammy stomp pumping in a minute in to add weight to the song. "Take Me, back to the darkness where they sent me," Noel Gallagher sings on this subtle yet uplifting and punchy number. "I want to live the dream" he sings on an uprising chorus, "I want a piece of the world", before weighty piano stabs add to the build. Towards the death a classically understated Noel Gallagher riff brings the song home. Understated yet upliftingly epic, it's a song of fine balance and poise.

'Stop The Clocks'
Noel Gallagher is a huge fan of this song, naming their 2006 'Best Of' album after it. Noel sings lead vocals over urgent acoustic strums, while a psychedelic guitar sound effect again adds a Doors-esque element to the intro. Noel cuts in over his own more conventional vocals with an echo-effect voice sample before his bandmates add to the build by adding layered backing vocals. It's a lighters-in-the-air moment for sure, although without the immediacy of a 'Wonderwall' or 'Don't Look Back In Anger'. "Stop the clocks and turn the world around," he sings. "Let your love lay me down…".
"When the night is over there'll be no sound", he continues in a Lee Mavers-esque repetitive croon, before a drumbeat pounds and clatters towards a riffy crescendo, with a sudden twang to finish.

Why can't some people leave the musicians alone and let them release it, people just really annoy me. They want to be the first to listen to new material. It'll be a shit copy anyway and your basically robbing Oasis and if you were such big Oasis fans then you would wait until the album is released and queue up and buy it you idiots... Oasis fans... fuck off

Who cares, oasis have average for the the last ten years. The first two albums were brilliant, the third was good but I wouldn't wipe my arse with the rest. Noel sings too much these days and liam writes too much. Little james. Need I say more.

Stop the CLocks= "Looking Glass" by the La's, EPIC song. I hope the lads add it to the forthcoming lp. Listening to it for the umpteenth time, and loving it more. Great song.

I have to agree, I Wanna Live A dream is clearly the best track. The songs sound a bit like a mix between the albums of "Be here Now' and 'Heathen Chemistry'

This has made my day. They're all great tunes and there's some weird, trippy territory that they haven't really been to since SOTSOG. Anyone else notice at the end of 'I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine)' where you can hear Noel starting to sing the start of 'Stop the Clocks'? Interesting. I want to hear the whole album.

totally agree with jilliam... the last couple albums you can hear a heavy La's influence. the new stuff sounds, well, fresh!and... only 'three songs leaked.' try.... 20.

only hip hop artists should let their tracks be released online

don't sound too bad, obviously not finished but its work in progress. oasis are obviously never going to be an original band, but they kick everything else out of the water. whatever they release will go straight into the top ten and will sell out any gig venue on the planet within minutes... you can't fake that! oasis matter!

These are only raw demo's. So if they're a little "bland" that's the reason. Excellent potential for these songs. Noel's in particular "WE'RE BACK!"*shades* Go fuck yourself with a toblerone anyone mentioning Little James as a slant on Liams writing talent. LOL Anti-Oasis statements so tiring. "Haven't been blah blah for 13years" NME still gets a fucking hard on when a new album is in the offing. They know Gallows and Horrors shite doesn't shift magazines, a magazine in crisis goes for the big boys. This is why this is top news and not their FREEBIE with coldplay. Oasis - still more important and vital then your favourite band. *shades*

I've been a hater for such a long time I thought you'd have to strap me into a chair "Clockwork Orange" style to get me to listen to a complete tune.Surprisingly these are pretty good. Sounds like they've actually allowed themselves to be influenced by something other than The Beatles for a change (a bit of Elbow in "Stop The Clocks"? Can't be a bad thing). However I do still wonder what Liam is actually for, considering these days he just sounds like a nasally caricature of himself and Noels voice is pretty good.

oh, I'm sure these tracks are the best thing since the last time they said it was the best thing since definately maybe...Oasis are a boring pub rock Beatles tribute band, that's all there is to it.

As a massive Oasis fan these songs are pretty damn good. Great to hear "Stop The Clocks" finally. No doubt should these songs be officially released as b-sides, a-sides whatever, they will be alot better than these demo's. "Record Machine" is my fav, great song. I have to admit I find "Nothing on you" not that striking and rather average tho. Liam's voc's are just not what they used to be, even since he had his teeth knocked out in Germany. That said, great to have the big boys back showing all the new middle of the road excuses for bands how it's done. All the people on here who slate them, when you have achieved what they have in your life, come back and post your comments, us fans may respect your comments a little then! The boy's are back in town (soon)!!!!

mAttthhheaLy, you clearly know nothing about music. Where the fuck do people get these Beatles comparisons from? Oasis do not, nor have they ever sounded like The Beatles. The only band that sounded remotely anything like them was the brilliant Cotton Mather.
