Drake responds to ex-girlfriend's royalty claim

Rapper says former girlfriend's lawsuit is without merit

Drake has responded to the lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend claiming she's owed royalties from his song 'Marvin's Room'.

His spokesperson said the claim made by Ericka Lee is "entirely without merit" and that Drake would be heading to court if the two parties couldn't settle amicably.

The spokesperson, talking to Rolling Stone, continued: "Our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct.

"Ericka Lee consented to the use of her voice in the song 'Marvin’s Room' prior to its release. Lee asked only for the credit she received as 'Syren Lyric Muse,' and she did not ask for any compensation.

"It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment. Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court."

Meanwhile Drake has been confirmed as the second headliner of this summer's Wireless Festival. The rapper, who released his second album 'Take Care' last year, will headline the festival's second night (July 7). He joins Rihanna as a headliner, with the 'Talk That Talk' singer set to close the festival on the following night (July 8). The headliner for the event's opening day (July 6) has yet to be announced.
