Chris Martin and co also honoured for latest album

Coldplay have won the Best Act In The World Today award at the Q Awards in London today (October 6).

The band also picked up plus the Best Album gong for their latest effort, 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' at the ceremony in London.

Duffy won the Best Breakthrough Artist award, while Keane won the Best Track gong for their recent download single 'Spiralling', the video for which you can watch by clicking below.

Meat Loaf won the Classic Song award for his song 'Bat Out Of Hell'.

Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour was given the Outstanding Contribution To Music award, while Kaiser Chiefs were given the Best Live Act gong.

you reckon that on receipt of his award,Mr Martin balled his little eyes out like his slightly more talented yet considerably average looking missus did when she collected an oscar... i like to think that he did.

Good, how depressing. Don't get me wrong, i like Coldplay but there is no way they are the best act in the world, nor that teir album is album of the year. Q is SO mainstream, no challenging, so damn safe, and that's what's wrong with it.

Will people please just stop giving Coldplay awards? It's just encouraging them, it's no wonder they think they're good!

.......i hate Q magazine, and this fuels my hatred even more, and Pieser Chefs best live band ????....please god why ??.....although good call with Mr Gilmour's waward, at least they've got something right...

people give coldplay awards because they deserve it and i think their album is the best this year but hey its only my opinion
