Atlanta fans want British citizens to give them a buzz

Atlanta rockers Black Lips, due to play on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday (June 28), are planning to launch a service in the UK whereby fans can phone them up at any time of the day or night.

The band ran a similar service from the USA last year, and it was so successful they have told NME.COM that they want to repeat the trick on British soil.

Last year US phone company Boost Mobile gave the band mobiles in a bid to garner publicity. The band posted their new numbers online and invited fans to call them, prompting a slew of calls from around the USA and beyond.

"We were getting a call a minute," explained singer/guitarist Cole Alexander. "We got asked everything from sex advice to suicide advice.

"We want to keep in touch with people – we don't like being detached. We just need someone to give us some UK cell phones. But I'd like to clear something up – we're not a sex or suicide hotline."
